360KID CEO Scott Traylor was recently invited to speak to a group of executives at Disney Consumer Electronics in West Hollywood, California. Disney contacted Traylor directly after viewing some of his previous industry presentations online.
A noted speaker and industry leader, Traylor regularly speaks to a variety of audiences on electronic development, the impact of play on learning, and trends in both the education and entertainment industries. The Disney presentation, crafted specifically for developers of children’s interactive media, was entitled "Tech Toy Age for Developers" and focused on the latest trends in toy development, education, and childhood itself.
"What I try to stress as a developer and a speaker is that all things overlap. You can’t look at how to make a product or even understand what product to make without looking at how kids are spending their leisure time, what pressures are confronting teachers, administrators, and parents, and what new platforms and forms of interactivity are coming down the pike," said Traylor.
With that in mind, Traylor addressed the growing impact of social networking sites for kids; the innovative uses of plug and play devices; the possibilities for alternative interfaces; and the "toys to watch" for 2006 and 2007.
Disney executives also engaged with Traylor during a question and answer session following the presentation.
"Scott Traylor was an extremely insightful speaker with an unique and interactive presentation style," said Chris Heatherly, GM & VP of Global Electronics for Disney Consumer Products. "He clearly has his finger on the pulse of kids and technology and we found his insight invaluable."
